"The chromatic power"

Oscar D'Ambrosio

Within the universe of the visual arts, each artist eventually, due to its own style, develops either a technique or a characteristic. There are the ones who prefer to work with harmony and others who find themselves during experimentation. There is also a very peculiar universe, the universe of color.

Diving in it brings pleasure and risk. Dacha succeeds to find a world of combinations in the chromatic power. She does not limit intensity and makes use of the most diverse compositions conveying a happy view of the world, a sort of kaleidoscope with great impact.

Flowers, cats, butterflies, dragonflies, peacocks and human figures appear on the canvas in a process of carnivalization that swallows everything and then recomposes it. A very personal esthetical sense arises, which surprises due to its courageous and risky elaborations many would not dare to imagine.

The artist’s world is made of curves. It is almost as if straight lines were forbidden. It is not that they are lacking. They are in there, although diluted by the profusion of figures. The juxtaposition of colors and insects, for example, initially deviates the attention to the whole picture. It is only afterwards that the details are perceived.

Elements like television devices or musical instruments are also integrated to the works, focusing many times on the discussion of a national identity. The most important aspect of her results, however, is the way she gives to her creations an effect of authentic printwork, pure expressiveness.

Oscar D’Ambrosio, journalist and master in Visual Arts by the Arts Institute of Unesp, he integrates the International Association of Art Critics (AICA- Brazil Section).
